OXFORD STREET CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
Location: Oxford Street, London
Client: Museum of London, Invited exhibition
Year: 1997
The proposal evokes the journey of the Three Kings travelling from the East.
As buses approach Oxford Street they congregate in threes and their roofs inflate to form luminescent and bejeweled crowns. In stately passage and bearing gifts, in the arms of passengers boarding from Selfridges, they journey westwards sprinkling gold, frankincense and myrrh. The ensemble is complemented by buses adorned with angelic wings and shepherd’s crooks.
