BPR were commissioned by Dorma to design a set of promotional door handles for exhibition at the Spectrum design show.
BPR used the collaboration with Dorma to challenge the concept of door handle design by taking their approach beyond mere stylistic interpretation to create joyous artefacts.
The “Mitten” take a holistic approach to combine all the components of door furniture into a face-fixed element. The “Paddle” explores the principles of folded plate technology. The “Spin-dal” explores the potential of the door spindle itself.
The stand itself, also designed by BPR, captures the spirit of magical surprise. Each door opens to reveal a different secret, from door handle manufacturing and architects ideas to a cabinet of relection.
